The Sacramento Valley Coin Club is Happy to Announce…
Kids Bucks – A Fun Way to Engage Our Young Collectors

The Sacramento Valley Coin Club (SVCC) is excited to introduce Kids Bucks, an initiative designed to increase youth participation in our club meetings and coin shows. Recognizing the need to bring more young numismatists (YNs) into the hobby, we’ve developed this program to encourage attendance, engagement, and hands-on participation in the wonderful world of coin collecting.
How Kids Bucks Work
Where to Get Kids Bucks: YNs can get Kids Bucks in a couple of ways.
- Club Meetings – Given out by the YN Coordinator or designated club representative.
- SVCC Coin Shows – Available at the SVCC club table when a YN visits.
Earning of Kids Bucks: Young numismatists can earn Kids Bucks by attending SVCC meetings and/or our coin shows. The amount awarded depends on the youth’s membership status of the club.
- SVCC Member YNs receive $10 in Kids Bucks per meeting and/or coin show visit redeemable at coin shows or meetings.
- Non-Member YNs receive $5 in Kids Bucks per meeting and/or coin show visit redeemable at coin shows or meetings.
Spending of Kids Bucks: These Bucks can be used to purchase auction items at our club meetings, or to purchase coins and merchandise at our local coin shows from participating dealers.
- At SVCC Meetings: Kids Bucks can be used to purchase raffle tickets at our club meetings, or for auction items in our club auctions. If an item is priced higher than the Bucks available, YNs can supplement that amount with cash.
- At Our Coin Shows: Participating dealers may accept Kids Bucks, which the club will fully reimburse to ensure they receive the full value of the sale. For example:
- If a YN buys a $4 coin using a $5 Kids Buck, the dealer still receives $5.
- If a YN bids $12 on an auction item and has two $10 Kids Bucks, they can use one of their $10 Kids Buck and pay $2 in cash.
Rules of Using Kids Bucks:
- Kids Bucks are valid from June of year acquired & expire the following year on July 1st
- Kids Bucks are not redeemable for cash and no change will be given.
- Kids Bucks can be saved and combined for future purchases (until end of year)
- Kids Bucks must be spent by the YN whose name appears on the back
- Amounts will be rounded up to maximize their value
Conclusion:
The Kids Bucks program officially launched at our 2024 Spring Show, and we look forward to seeing young collectors actively using their Kids Bucks to expand their collections and deepen their interest in numismatics!
