RULES EXPLAINED
Purpose: To promote knowledge of, and interest in, coin collecting in the Greater Sacramento area. The COIN HUNT is intended to put old and interesting U.S. coins in the hands of hundreds of our neighbors who may not have seen coins that were common many decades ago. By sparking their interest in the coins they have found, we hope that many of these people will choose to come to Sacramento Valley Coin Club’s Spring 2022 Coin Show to find out more about their found coin, or piece of paper currency, and to see if they have won a valuable prize.
Prizes Available: Each item found in the 2022 COIN HUNT includes an embossed and numbered ticket which must be submitted to the Sacramento Valley Coin Club’s management at their Spring 2022 Coin Show in order to determine if the finder has won a valuable prize. At a minimum, prizes available for winning include two gold coins and two silver coins. More prizes may be added prior to the conclusion of the coin show. Currently, the top prizes include a1/10th ounce gold coin as well as a 1/4 ounce gold coin, with values of $225 to over $500.
COIN HUNT Items – Where and When to Find Them: More than 250 old U.S. coins and paper currency will be placed in locations around the Greater Sacramento region where members of the public should be able to easily find them. These locations may be on shelves of grocery stores, on a counter at a deli, at the check out desk of a library, on top of a gas pump at a gas station, on a bus bench, on a magazine rack near the check-out aisle of a department store, and other similar places. Each old coin and piece of old U.S. currency comes with a 2-inch by 2-inch plastic folder that contains information about the found piece of money and the numbered and embossed prize ticket described above. Coins and currency will be placed in locations for the public to find on the following dates: Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1, 2022.
How To Find Out More About a Found Coin or Currency: People finding a coin or piece of currency in the COIN HUNT may find out more about the item they found by visiting Sacramento Valley Coin Club’s Spring 2022 Coin Show. The Coin Show will take place at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 4900 Duckhorn Drive, Sacramento. The Coin Show will be on Friday, May 6 and Saturday May 7, 2022. Finders of COIN HUNT items are asked to come to the coin show either day between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. Finders of COIN HUNT items will be admitted to the Coin Show at no cost to them.
How To Find Out if a Finder of a Coin Hunt Item Has Won a Prize: Finders of COIN HUNT items, who come to the above-described Coin Show, can turn in the embossed and numbered prize ticket to find out if they have won a valuable GOLD or SILVER coin. Coin Club management will check their ticket’s number against a list of winning numbers and if their ticket matches a winning number, they will be awarded their prize at that time. There is no cost to enter the contest.
Contest Rules and Restrictions:
